The mission of the Arboretum at Johnston Community College is to promote prudent and responsible use of cultivated plants and to promote the conservation of native species through the acquisition, evaluation and aesthetic display of selected plant materials in an educational environment for students, visitors, the green industry, and local citizens.

Up for a bike ride in the country - join this group of devoted cyclists through the country roads of Johnston County. This is a membership organization dedicated to supporting the MS Bike Tour in September. They have developed several routes for the casual or experienced rider. For suggested bike routes:
Triple "S" ranch is dedicated to providing visitors with a facility that is ideal for school groups, families, and all others interested in the farm experience. Enjoy educational animal farm tours, hayrides, nature walking trail, playground, cookout area, fishing pond, basketball court, softball field, horse shoes, patch gardens, stage for performances. Farm animals include horses, llams, donkey, mule, highland cows, goats, sheep, emu, potbelly pigs, peacocks, chickens and ducks. Call for appointment. Fee associated with programs and rentals.
